The purpose of this project is to establish a correlation between the amount of air pollutants, such as particulate matter, pH of bark, and the quantity of the population of Tardigrada in the samples of trees and lichen. The project specifically looks at how tardigrade populations can be used as an indicator of air pollution and how it’s affects on the health of trees.

One can contribute to our project by collecting samples of lichen from trees while recording and monitoring the level of particulate matter (or other forms of air pollutants), following the procedure that we used to collect, please note that one should only collect lichen where collections are allowed.
